During her last year at university Lisa received a prestigious CASPAD Scholarship (Centre for Advanced Studio Practice in Art and Design) and had the opportunity to travel along the South West Coast of England, where she discovered new sources of inspiration and experimented with new techniques and materials influenced by Alberto Burri, an Italian artist and sculptor. He used unconventional materials and textures to create abstract compositions that challenged the traditional boundaries of art. The varied textures and tones of Cornwall’s shoreline, sea and sky moved Lisa to experiment with layering, composition, absorption of paints and the effects created by different matters.
A more abstract, conceptual style born from the marriage of material and colour ensued.
She developed a distinctive illustrative style that combines traditional and modern painterly and print methods with expressive marks inspired by Ralph Steadman, Gerald Scarfe and Ronald Searle.
Lisa's style ranges from impressionistic to abstract, always aiming to capture the essence and emotion of her subjects.
